Theoretical Knowledge

Equipment selection and limits of usage, equipment inspection and records, care and maintenance of equipment, equipment storage, general equipment for rope access, methods of communication, exclusion zone, hazard avoidance and rope protection, record of rope access works and suspension trauma.

Practical Skills

Ascending, Descending, Ascending using descender, Descending using Ascender, Change from descent to ascent and vice versa, Use of backup system, Deviation (single and double), Mid rope knot passing, Rope to rope transfer, Re-anchor (rebelay), Edge passing, Passing mid rope protector and Use of work seat.

Rescue on descent mode from separate set of ropes and Rescue on descent mode using casualty’s same set of ropes. Horizontal aid and mobile climbing and Climbing with fall arrester. Basic hauling using simple pulley system

Elementary rigging, knots and small Y hang, Use of pulleys (understand and construct simple systems of mechanical advantage) and Rope protection and hazard avoidance

Practical Knowledge

Complex rescue participation, rigging a re-anchor, rigging deviation (Single & Double) and selection of anchor points

Rigging a re-anchor, Rigging deviation (Single & Double), Rigging for Hauling / Lowering, Rigging tensioned rope, Rigging pull-through (retrievable), Rigging vertical fall arrest line, Wide Y hanging and Selection of anchor points.

Practical Knowledge

Short connection rescue from horizontal aid climbing – Lowering and descent with casualty, Short connection rescue from vertical aid climbing – Lowering and descent with casualty, Rescue from fall arrest equipment – descent with casualty and Complex rescue participation Work restraint line.

Theoretical Knowledge

Standards and legal requirement for equipment and Marking and traceability, selection of rope access team and First aid qualification and emergency evacuation plan and Legislation at work place.

Practical Skills

Rescue from horizontal aid climbing – Lowering casualty and descent with casualty, Rescue from vertical aid climbing – Lowering casualty and descent with casualty, Rescue from fall arrest equipment - descent with casualty, Rescue from temporary fall arrester line, Mid rope single knot passing with casualty, Team rescue management, Complex rescue participation and Use of tension rope for rescue, Mid rope hauling.

Rigging vertical fall arrest line, pre-rig for rescue and work restraint line.
